Quickies: How to Check the Best Time to Post to Instagram

What?

Knowing when to post to Instagram can greatly increase the engagement your post receives. Both the time of day, and the day of the week affects the engagement you receive.

Why?

Make sure you publish posts to Instagram at optimal times to keep your audience engaged by following the advice below.

How?

Our favourite tool for checking the best time to post to Instagram is Iconosquare. Packages start at $25 per month, but there’s a free seven day trial which should be sufficient if you only want to check once when your audience is most engaged.

To use Iconosquare you’ll need to sign up for an account by logging in with your Instagram account. Once you’ve signed up…

  • Log in
  • Go to ‘Analytics’ (in the navigation bar)
  • Select ‘Optimization’ from the left hand side bar
  • At the top you will see a ‘Best time to post’ visualisation

The dark circles show when you tend to post. The light grey circles show when your audience tends to interact. The biggest light grey circles are the best times for you to post.

Iconosquare also provides you with lots of other analytics too, such as which your most popular posts are, who your most engaged followers are, and heaps more.
